KATHMANDU, April 14: Former King Gyanendra Shah has stated that although the country has a glorious history, it has suffered greatly in recent decades due to weaknesses in various sectors, both knowingly and unknowingly.

In his message to the nation on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2080 BS, former King Shah said that as the country has suffered, internal harmony and unity, strength of important institutions, international respect, all have been seriously affected.

The message also mentions that the financial transactions of our government funded and operated financial institutions are not conducted for the upliftment of the common poor. “It is natural that problems and anger will increase among the people if proper attention is not paid to production and proper distribution and use of resources. The youth seems to be completely dissatisfied with the existing system and government activities,” said the former king.

Similarly, former King Shah also said that the country’s youths are extremely dissatisfied with the past three decades of ‘disastrous efforts’. “In such a situation, it is not possible to shut someone's mouth, arrest them, or impose meaningless accusations of resurgence. So now leave empty slogans, think for the right type of state system, start correcting the mistakes by all means. Don’t push the country into disaster knowingly,” said former King Shah.

He also wished that the new year may become the beginning of a fruitful period instead of zero results.
