Hotels and Tourism jumps 141.43 points while NEPSE drops 5.91 points

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday decreased marginally by 5.91 points to close at 2,770.99 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,776.90 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,782.99 points in the first 39 minutes. The market went through a series of fluctuations and reached as low as 2,767.78 points in the last five minutes, while the index recovered by around three points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

Hotels and Tourism witnessed a whopping rise of 141.43 points as mutual funds shed 0.01 points. Of the 11 losers, non-life insurance declined by the highest of 72.20 points.   


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 1.54 points. The daily turnover dropped to Rs 5.20 billion from Rs 5.63 billion. 


Among the individual companies, 59 were gainers while 188 were recorded as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 250.97 million.


The share price of Panchakanya Mai Hydropower fell 9.03 percent, the largest of all. Bikash Hydropower Company Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
