JANAKPURDHAM, April 29: Janaki Navami is being celebrated today in Janakpurdham.
Janaki Navami is celebrated every year according to the religious belief that the ideal woman Sita was born on this day in Mithila. The day of Baisakh Shukla Navami (lunar month of Baisakh) is celebrated as Janaki Navami.
Maha Navami festival being celebrated today
On the occasion of Janaki Navami, devotees have thronged Janaki Mandir, Ram Mandir and Janak Mandir Gayat from early this morning.
The Janaki temple management side has organized various programs on the occasion of Janaki Navami.
Mahantha (priest) of Janaki temple Ram Roshan Das said that there will be a bath in the river Dudhamati early in the morning, prayer at the temple from 10 o'clock, prakatya festival at 12 o'clock, Janaki dola yatra in the evening, tilkut sabha at night and congratulatory song again.
Devotees and tourists from different places of Nepal and India have come to Janakpur to participate in Janaki Navami.
