KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The second day of Chhath festival known as ‘Kharana’ is being celebrated on Saturday across the country.

Chhath, a festival mainly dedicated to the Sun God, started on Friday. The main rituals of the festival, observed in succession in a period of four days, include the arba-arbain, kharana, offering argha to the setting sun and offering argha to the rising sun.

On the second day, devotees take a fast and offer a special type of rice pudding cooked in milk and raw sugar (Sakhar) to the rising moon in the late afternoon.
