KATHMANDU, April 12: Kathmandu University (KU) has prepared to close educational programs with fewer students and vacant representation of students.
According to the university, plans have been made to phase out educational programs with fewer students and bring new and effective programs in the coming days.
Bhola Thapa, vice-chancellor of the university, informed Republica that although there are plans to close the educational programs with fewer students, a decision has yet to be taken as to which programs will be closed.

He said that due to the lack of students in various educational programs, there is a problem in the operation and that in the future, effective and attractive programs are being discussed to carry out.
The university is currently conducting more than 200 educational programs. About 30 percent of these programs have not been able to be conducted effectively due to the lack of students. According to Vice Chancellor Thapa, 22 seats are vacant out of 24 quotas for Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) with 22 students admitted in 30 seats.
In Masters of Management (MMS), 12 out of 20 seats are vacant, while there are 30 seats in Bachelor of Buddhist Studies but only four students have been admitted. He said that 16 out of 30 seats of PGD in Management are vacant. About 78 students have been admitted out of 120 seats in Bachelor of Business Studies (BBA).
Vice-Chancellor Thapa said that there is a lack of students even if quality educational programs are conducted on time.
