NC to expand party membership from 0.8 million to 1.4 million

KATHMANDU, July 18: The ruling party Nepali Congress (NC) is going to speed up its membership expansion campaign.



This is mentioned in a report presented by General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa in the context of the implementation of the law and the strengthening of the party in the Central Working Committee meeting held at the party’s central office Sanepa since Tuesday.


The NC is going to run a campaign of 'Ghar Ghar Jaun, Party Sadasya Banau’ with a plan to add at least 500,000 new party members.

Thapa made a proposal in the meeting to run a party membership expansion campaign from August 5, 2023 to July 15, 2024.


General Secretary Thapa has also put forward a plan to add 500,000 to 700,000 new members under this campaign.


According to data made public earlier at the 14th General Convention of the party, the NC had 866,000 active members as of December 10, 2021.


Now, NC has put forward a plan to increase the number to at least 1.4 million.
