1,874 thatched-roof houses to be replaced with zinc roof houses in Kaski

POKHARA, Oct 30: Families with poor economic background in Kaski district will be provided with financial assistance to replace the thatched-roofs of their houses with zinc sheets.

POKHARA, Oct 30: Families with poor economic background in Kaski district will be provided with financial assistance to replace the thatched-roofs of their houses with zinc sheets. 



A total of 1,874 families will get Rs 50,000 each in grants to replace the thatched-roofs of their houses under the Safe Citizen Housing Program in the current fiscal year.  


Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Bain Bahadur Adhikari said that families with thatched-roof houses - those vulnerable to floods and landslides - and others with poor economic background will get the support.

The program will be implemented in all local units including Pokhara Metropolitan City in Kaski.  


For the effective implementation of the program, applications will be collected from the local units’ ward offices and the beneficiaries will be selected through a survey in accordance with the procedures. 


After the survey, the local units will prepare the list of the targeted groups and send the names to the Federal Project Implementation Unit in Kaski to select the beneficiaries.  


The Ministry of Urban Development of the federal government will directly send the grant amount to the local units, it is said.
