12 Indian nationals arrested for operating illegal networking business in Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 11: At least twelve Indian nationals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in operating illegal networking business in Nepal.



Acting on the tip-off, a team of Metropolitan Crime Range arrested the Indian nationals during a raid at Durbarmarg-based Hotel Yak and Yeti in the capital on Friday night when they were running training and orientation to run the illegal networking business in Nepal. 


Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Crime Range, Hobindra Bogati, told Republica Online that the Indian nationals were arrested on the suspicion of running illegal networking business in Kathmandu.

"The 12 Indians were found running training and orientation programs at Hotel Yak and Yeti to further expand their illegal networking business here," Bogati said. More than 300 Nepali nationals were given training and orientation at Hotel Yak and Yeti to run the illegal networking business in Nepal, according to him. 


The police have started a probe into the arrested. "The investigation is underway. We can tell something by today evening," Bogati said.


Police authorities are consulting with officials from the Nepal Rastra Bank and other concerned government agencies for the alleged involvement of Indian nationals in the financial crimes.


Some Nepali nationals are also said to be involved in the business which is now prohibited in Nepal.


The police have not revealed the names of those arrested. It is learnt that the Indian nationals are from the Indian state of Bihar.
