14 candidates shortlisted for post of TU’S Vice Chancellor

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: The recommendation committee formed to recommend names for the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) has shortlisted 14 candidates.

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: The recommendation committee formed to recommend names for the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) has shortlisted 14 candidates.



The committee in a notice published on Thursday announced the names of those shortlisted for the post of Vice-Chancellor.


The names of the shortlisted candidates have been announced from among the candidates who earlier applied for the post of Vice-Chancellor as per the procedure set for selecting and recommending the Vice-Chancellor of the TU.

Kushum Shakya is among those shortlisted for presentation and interview. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Sociology and Humanities.


Keshar Jung Baral, Govinda Subedi, Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki, Gyanendra Prasad Paudyal and Tankanath Dhamala, Tirtha Raj Khaniya, Narayan Prasad Belbase, Prakash Ghimire, Bhojraj Aryal, Mahendra Prasad Sharma, Ram Chandra Basnet, Shiva Lal Thapa and Surya Bahadur Thapa are also among those selected for the presentation and interview. 


The schedule for presentation of the professional action plan has been fixed for the selected candidates on February 12, 13 and 14.


The TU had earlier invited applications for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor through open competition after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also Chancellor of the university, announced that he would not appoint a Vice-Chancellor on political grounds.
