KATHMANDU, Nov 9: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) confirmed 2,571 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday. As many as 1,051 females and 1,520 males were diagnosed with the disease.
In its social media updates earlier on Monday, the ministry shared that the total number of infected people in the country has advanced to 197,024. Of them, as many as 81 percent -- 159,724--- recovered and 1,126 succumbed to the disease. On Monday, 1,798 gained recovery and 18 died of the viral infection.

The country has so far carried out 1,551,254 real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests including 11,177 in the past 24 hours.
A total of 36,174 COVID-19 patients have yet to get over the disease as of Monday afternoon. They are undergoing treatment at various institutional isolation centers or being isolated at their own homes.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley, where lies the country’s capital city, confirmed 1,428 new cases, which accounts for 55.5 percent of the total cases detected across the country on Monday. There are a total of 19,384 active cases of the disease in the Valley where COVID-19 has already claimed 415 lives.
