38 still missing in natural disaster: MoHA

KATHMANDU, July 28: As many as 38 persons, seven from Dolpa district, were still missing in the rain-triggered-flood and landslides across the country. A total of 117 lost their lives to as many as 414 incidents of natural disaster, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).



National Emergency Operation Centre Chief Bednidhi Khanal shared, four people were killed in flood, landslide and inundation in a recent couple of days. Altogether 61 people died in flood, 47 in the landslide and nine in heavy rainfall so far this monsoon. Among the 77 districts in the country, Rautahat district recorded the highest number of death by the flood.

Flood and inundation claimed lives of 10 people there while the highest 14 people were killed by the landslide in Gulmi district. As per the data unveiled on Sunday by Centre, as many as 80 people were left injured in the natural disasters. But many of the injured ones have returned home after treatment.


Properties worth over Rs 1.7 billion were damaged by natural disasters, according to the MoHA. Khanal shared that rescue and relief operation was underway in disaster-hit areas and reconstruction of the roads and embankments damaged in flood and landslide were underway.
