44 year attempts suicide twice in a day citing domestic conflicts

GULMI, June 3: Sabitri Ghimire, 44, a resident of Ghurkot rural municipality-7 attempted to commit suicide twice in a day by jumping in the Kali Gandaki River. After being rescued, Ghimire said that she had decided to end her life after family related issues and conflict.

GULMI, June 3: Sabitri Ghimire, 44, a resident of Ghurkot rural municipality-7 attempted to commit suicide twice in a day by jumping in the Kali Gandaki River. After being rescued, Ghimire said that she had decided to end her life after family related issues and conflict.



Shiva Pariyar, a worker in a sand refinery on the bank of Kali Gandaki River rescued 44 year old Sabitri Ghimire. Ghimire, a resident of Ghurkot rural municipality-7 had jumped in the river to end her life for the second time.

According to Pariyar, Ghimire’s first attempt was when she dived into the river, eventually to be rescued by workers at the sand mine. On her second attempt, Pariyar had jumped into the river after seeing floating bag of goods her body in the Kali Gandaki River, according to Bharat Gurung, constable at Area Police Office. Police also recovered two bottles of poison inside the bag.


Police have handed her over to her family members.
