RAUTAHAT, Oct 15: Police on Thursday apprehended a person from Rautahat on the charge of raping and murdering a 14-year-old girl.
A joint team of police from Province Police Office, Janakpur and District Police Office Rautahat arrested Chunu Shah Teli, 45, of Brindaban Municipality-4, Haridya Paltuwa from Garuda Municipality-4 in the district.
Three boys arrested for raping a minor
Shah had been absconding since the incident on October 6. He had allegedly raped the minor girl in a sugarcane field and murdered her later.
The victim was a close friend of the daughter of the accused. Shah cajoled and raped her and squeezed her throat to death after she said that she would tell others about the incident.
Police also presented him before the District Court, Rautahat and got the judicial custody date extended by 15 days, according to Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasai.
