The Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, has transferred officers who served at the airport for over 5 years, with some even serving for 16 years. According to sources, these officers will be replaced by a new team.

Those relieved of their duties include personnel ranging from police office assistants to senior sub-inspectors. While over 50 officers have served at the airport for an extended period, they have not been immediately replaced.

"We need trained manpower to fill their positions as they were involved in screening duties," stated a source. "We have commenced training the new team in coordination with airport authorities and will gradually replace the existing officers."

Low-ranking police officers stationed at the airport for extended periods have faced allegations of involvement in illicit activities. It is said that the decision to rotate officers was made to enhance operational efficiency.

"In deploying the new team, we have prioritized educational qualifications. Henceforth, only individuals who have passed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination will be assigned roles at the TIA,” the source added.
