KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has approved Nepal U-19 cricket team’s practice tour to the host nation Sri Lanka to prepare for the Youth Asia Cup to be held in September.
Nepal has already started its closed camp under head coach Binod Das at Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground, Kirtipur after the National Sports Council (NSC) made the ground conditions ready for matches.

The junior cricket team had asked the ACC for the upcoming preparatory tour of Sri Lanka for ideal practice opportunity before facing the teams from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan in the upcoming U-19 Asia Cup. Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait
are the other teams in the eight-team one-day league.
Nepal will head for Sri Lanka on August 24 for the practice tour before starting its Asia Cup campaign on September 5. The groups have not been divided yet. The final match has been scheduled for September 14.
Nepal had won the ACC U-19 Eastern Region championship defeating Hong Kong by six wickets in the final held in Malaysia, last month.
India is the defending champion of the event overcoming Sri Lanka in the final played at Bangladesh’s Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Nepal had finished third on the Group A table behind semifinalist Afghanistan.
The squad for the upcoming edition will be announced soon with most of the members from last team set to be retained.
