KATHMANDU, March 27: Agitating squatters have staged demonstrations against Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah in the capital on Monday.
The agitating squatters organized a rally that marched past from Basneshwor to Maitighar Mandala against what they called Mayor Shah’s illegal and unconstitutional attempt to evict them from their homes.

Kumar Karki, president of the United National Squatters Front, Nepal, said that the demonstration was organized against Mayor Shah’s attempt to evict them. He accused KMC authorities of going against the existing laws and the constitution and evicting them without making alternative arrangements for their shelters.
The agitating squatters had chanted strong slogans against Mayor Shah. They also demanded unconditional release of the land activists arrested during their protests in the past and withdrawal of ‘false cases’ against them.
