BHIMDUTTANAGAR, Aug 25: An all party meeting was held here this morning in an effort to normalize the situation that has become tense as a result of the ongoing agitation following the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant.

The all-sides meeting held at the District Administration Office focused on ways to normalize the situation following Friday's incident where one person died while many others were injured in a clash between police and demonstrators. Representatives of political parties, civil society, and various civil society organisations took part in the meeting.

It may be noted that the local administration has enforced a curfew since 8:00 pm on Friday night to stop the situation from going out of control. The local market, transportation and education institutions have remain closed since the agitation began five days ago.

The investigation committee formed by the Home Ministry has initiated preliminary investigation from Friday, while the newly appointed Chief District Officer Taranath Adhikari and Police Chief Kuber Kadayat are working to build a peaceful atmosphere to ensure better investigation into the murder of Nirmala.
