NEPALGUNJ, May 16: Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Upendra Yadav on Tuesday said there is no alternative to amending the constitution to make it sustainable.

Speaking at a function organized in Nepalgunj, Yadav said the government must honor the past agreements and initiate the process to amend the constitution. “Until our demands are met, our protests will continue,” he said.

The FSFN chair further said June 14, the date set for holding the second phase of the local elections, is not appropriate. “At that time, people of the Muslim community will be observing religious fasts. Hence, it will be better to shift the date so as to prevent overlapping of the two important events.”

At the function, other leaders including FSFN senior leader Ashok Rai, Vice-chairman Mohammad Lalbabu Raut, former minister and FSFN member Mohammad Istiyak Rai, party’s central member Chudamani Regmi among others expressed their opinions.
