APF and Nepal Police into quarters

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Two departmental teams Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police Club have advanced to the quarterfinals in the men’s section of the 3rd NVA National Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Two departmental teams Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police Club have advanced to the quarterfinals in the men’s section of the 3rd NVA National Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship on Thursday. 



In the last match of Group D played at the National Sports Council’s covered hall, APF defeated Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club in the straight sets of 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 for a place in the last eight as group winner.  Dhorpatan followed APF to the quarterfinals as group runner-up.



Similarly in Group A match, Police beat Mani Mukunda Volleyball Club of Butwal 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 to book a place in the last eight as group winner. Despite losing against Police, Mani Mukunda also advanced as the runner-up. 



Likewise from Group D, Western Region progressed to the last eight as group winner beating Naya Bazar Volleyball Club 25-21, 25-17, 26-24. However, Naya Bazar also booked its place in the quarterfinals as Group D runner-up. 



In the women’s section, Tribhuvan Army booked a place in the last eight as Group A runner-up beating Pragatishil Youth Club 25-6, 25-9, 25-8 in the last group match. New Diamond Academy has already advanced to the quarterfinals as Group A winner. 



A total of 21 teams - 12 in men’s and nine in women’s sections - are competing in the tournament that is being organized by Nepal Volleyball 

Association.
