Army Chief confirms death sentences of 10 terrorists

KASHMIR, Oct 13: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed the death sentences of 10 terrorists, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.

KASHMIR, Oct 13: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed the death sentences of 10 terrorists, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.



 The terrorists were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism including killing of innocent civilians, polio workers, NGO employees, police officials and Armed Forces personnel. Fire-arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by military courts.


Detail of each case is mentioned below


Muhammad Shahid Omar S/O Zaman Khan


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in the killing of two female workers of polio vaccination team, 11 employees of a NGO and several civilians.  He was also involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death and injuries to police official and soldiers. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Hussain Shah S/O Fazal-e-Hadi


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in the death of Major Mustafa, Captain Waseem, several soldiers and injuries to many other soldiers. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.


Zafar Iqbal S/O Muhammad Khan


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in the death of Subiadar Awal Khan, Naik Azmat Ullah of Frontier Constabulary and injuries to ASI of police Chanar Gul and Sepoy Shafique of Frontier Constabulary. The convict was also in possession of firearms and explosives. He admitted his " offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.


Anwer Zeb S/O Tootkay


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who was involved in the abduction of Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Khaqqan Afzal, slaughtering of SI (Retired) Umar Ghani and killing of a civilian. He was also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.


Obaid ur Rehman S/O Fazal Hadi


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who was involved in the killing of innocent civilians. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.


Sher Alam S/O Hanif ur Rehman


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies and killing of civilians. He was also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.


Atta Ullah S/O Muhammad Sultan, Mushtaq Khan S/O Saeed Gul and Asghar Khan S/O Nadar Khan


These three convicts were active members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. They were involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in the death of several soldiers and injuries to Captain Asif. They were also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convicts admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentence.


Shams ul Qamar S/O Sha Gulbar


The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in the death of police officials and injuries to civilians. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
