Army wins Nepal Cup

CHITWAN, Aug 15: Tribhuvan Army Club lifted the title of Fourth Nepal Cup Football Tournament on Monday beating Nepal Police Club in final played at Kyampa Chaur, Chitwan. Army overcame departmental rival Nepal Police 2-0.

CHITWAN, Aug 15: Tribhuvan Army Club lifted the title of Fourth Nepal Cup Football Tournament on Monday beating Nepal Police Club in final played at Kyampa Chaur, Chitwan. Army overcame departmental rival Nepal Police 2-0.



Army took lead in the 19th minute with captain Bharat Khawas' goal. Police wasted a chance to equalize in the 24th minute as Dinesh Gurung's attempt was saved by Army goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu.



Army's Suman Aryal scored with a header in the 30th minute to double the lead.  



Winner Tribhuvan Army bagged Rs 300,000 and trophy while runner-up Nepal Police settled for Rs 200,000 and trophy.



Suman Aryal of Army was named man-of-the-match while Bharat Khawas of the same team became the highest goal scorer of the tournament with three goals. Rabin Shrestha of Police was named player of the tournament. All three players were rewarded with Rs 10,000 each.
