Around 70 percent of spending on bandwidth purchase was spent on TikTok: NTA

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: An average of 70 percent of the expense in bandwidth purchase in Nepal goes in the subscription of TikTok.



According to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), Nepali internet service providers spent an average of Rs 2 billion per month to procure bandwidth. Of the amount, Rs 1.40 billion was being spent on subscription of the video-sharing app.

Recently, the government has banned the use of TikTok in Nepal. However, many users are found to be accessing the social media platform by using the virtual private network (VPN).
