Arrests cannot be made on the basis of statements, further investigation is ongoing: DPM Shrestha

KATHMANDU, May 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that further investigation is being carried out into the case of fake Bhutanese refugee scam who have been mentioned in the media.

KATHMANDU, May 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that further investigation is being carried out into the case of fake Bhutanese refugee scam who have been mentioned in the media.



He said this while accepting a memorandum submitted by Youth Association Nepal, a sister organization of the CPN-UML, on Thursday, demanding a fair investigation into the case of fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Minister Shrestha said that arrests cannot be made only on the basis of statements given by someone.


He said that there is a web of corruption in the country and the journey to prosperity cannot be successful until the web of the commission is broken.


He said that it is necessary to effectively control corruption. He said that it is not acceptable to make the citizens of the country non-citizens and send them abroad to earn money. He also added that the investigation must be free from political influence and unwanted pressure, and instructed the police to investigate independently.
