Australian envoy Budd inaugurates community building in Solu

SOLUKHUMBU, Aug 31: Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Pete Budd, inaugurated a community building in Garma of Solududhkunda Municipality in Solukhumbu district amid a function on Thursday.

SOLUKHUMBU, Aug 31: Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Pete Budd, inaugurated a community building in Garma of Solududhkunda Municipality in Solukhumbu district amid a function on Thursday. 



The building was constructed with the support from Australian Himalayan Foundation and READ Nepal.  Both the organizations provided Rs 9.2 million to construct the community building. 

 About 500 persons can be accommodated in the building.

Inaugurating the building, Ambassador Budd said the construction of the building with the participation of people living in the Himalayan region and Australian aid has further heightened Nepal-Australia relations.  


 Ambassador Budd said both the countries are benefited from bilateral relations in recent days. About 30,000 Nepali students go to Australia for study whereas thousands of Australian tourists visit Nepal each year, said Budd.


At the program, Namgel Jangbu Sherpa, mayor of Solududhkunda Municipality, urged the ambassador to initiate direct Nepal-Australia flights to boost tourism in Nepal.
