KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The prime thoroughfares and intersections in Kathmandu are being adorned with the national flags of Nepal and India as part of the preparations for the state visit by Indian President, Pranab Mukherjee.

The streets, intersections, lounges and central junctures lying in the route leading from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) through the city have been decorated and embellished.

Banners welcoming Indian President Mukherjee flashes across the Swagat Dwars (Welcome Gates) that punctuate the route through which the high dignitary will travel. The gates have been constructed at the airport, Naya Baneshwor, Ram Shah Path, Shital Niwas, Kalimati, Boudha and Gaushala among other places.

The authorities are not yet done with decorating the city as the cleanup process, colour painting and setting up of banners continue. The Nepal Army (NA) has taken over the job of setting up the national flags.
