Bagmati’s Budget: Physical infrastructure, health and education major priorities

KATHMANDU, June 16: Bagmati Province has announced a budget of Rs 70.93 billion for the fiscal year 2022/23, which is Rs 13 billion more, compared to the province’s budget for the current fiscal year. Bagmati Province has allocated Rs 57.72 billion for the current fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, June 16: Bagmati Province has announced a budget of Rs 70.93 billion for the fiscal year 2022/23, which is Rs 13 billion more, compared to the province’s budget for the current fiscal year. Bagmati Province has allocated Rs 57.72 billion for the current fiscal year.



Presenting the budget in the Province Assembly meeting on Wednesday, Shalikram Jammakattel, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, said the provincial government has allocated Rs 41.56 billion (58 percent) for capital expenditure while Rs 19.02 billion (27 percent) has been allocated for recurrent expenditure. The amount allocated for development expenses for the next fiscal year is around Rs 12 billion more than that of the current fiscal year.

Bagmati Province has given priorities to physical infrastructure, health and education. For the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the provincial government has earmarked Rs 3.23 billion. Plantation of 15,000 plants in the deforested hills, one ward one health clinic and opening of an Ayurvedic medicine production plant in Ratnanagar, Bharatpur, are among the major plans of Bagmati Province for the next fiscal year.
