Bhaisepati Police Chief arrested on charge of assisting ex-minister Gupta

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: A Police Inspector has been arrested on the charge of allegedly helping ex-minister Shyam Sundar Gupta to threaten a woman with abduction.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: A Police Inspector has been arrested on the charge of allegedly helping ex-minister Shyam Sundar Gupta to threaten a woman with abduction.



SSP Pitambar Adhikari told Republica Online that Chief of Metropolitan Police Station, Bhaisepati, Anil Pandit was arrested today and presented before the Kathmandu District Court.



The court has remanded Pandit to judicial custody to facilitate investigation into the case, he said.



Former minister Gupta was arrested from Talchhikhel of Lalitpur yesterday on the charge of threatening a woman with abduction if she failed to provide him Rs 5 million.



Based on the complaints registered by the victim woman, who is an entrepreneur, a police squad arrested former minister Gupta from his residence in Talchhikhel.
