KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Issuing a joint statement, Coordinator of Naya Shakti Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai and Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum- Nepal (FSF-N) Upendra Yadav have said that their serious attention has been drawn toward the constitution amendment proposal.

“Our serious attention has been drawn toward the changes being made in the constitution as the outcome of different movements. The amendment should end the discriminations on the basis of class, caste, sex, language, culture, religion and region,” reads the statement.

To ensure it, the constitution should be amended by guaranteeing federalism with federal rights, fully proportional parliament, directly-elected President, proportional representation in state mechanisms, multi-language policy, autonomy and self-governance, federal judiciary among others, according the statement.

“Amending the constitution by excluding the issues will not solve the current problems the country is facing,” reads the statement, “The move will drive the country toward conflict, confusion and instability instead of peace, development and stability.”
