Flowers such as marigold and Makhamali (Globe Amarnath) are widely used in making garlands.

Tihar, also known as Yamapanchak is observed for five days. All five days require flowers to perform various rituals ranging from worshipping crows, dogs, cows to offering to the brothers by their sisters. Various places in Tanahu are now attracting the passers-by as they look mesmerizing due to the gardens filled with flowers.

Local Suraudai Khola banks at Shuklagandaki municipality-12 is one of the places decorated with marigold flowers. Firfire Organic Agro Farm has ventured floriculture for the first time. “We have planted as many as 10 thousand marigold plants in the farm,” the owner Madan Poudel told Republica Online.

According to Poudel, flower-stall will be established in various markets of Kaski and Tanahu to supply flowers and garlands.
