Career building in Hotel Management

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: The Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) organized a graduation ceremony on Wednesday at Radisson Hotel, Lazimpat.

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: The Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) organized a graduation ceremony on Wednesday at Radisson Hotel, Lazimpat. 



A total of 51 students, who successfully completed Higher Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management (HDHM) were conferred graduation degrees at the ceremony. The degree is equivalent to Bachelor’s in Hotel Management. The HDHM course is internationally recognized and is accredited by Swiss Hotel and Hospitality Management Degree Program of IMI in Luzern, Switzerland. The degree also opens doors to national and international job markets.

Rohit Shilpakar, a graduate, said he was looking forward to go Australia for his higher studies. He shared, “I am interested in event management and want to make it a career.” According to him there is a vast scope in Australia for students that have studied hotel management. 


Moreover, there are chances that the students will be appointed while doing internship in various hotels abroad. Aman Shrestha, a graduate, had done his internship in Dubai in his the fifth semester. By the time of graduation, he was offered a job at the same hotel and he currently earns Rs 50,000 per month.  Expressing her happiness for her son’s success, Aman’s mother Bidya Shrestha shared, “I am proud of my son and the degree is related to lifestyle. I am happy that my son has chosen such an interesting career path.”


Explaining the professional scope after studying HDHM, Director of AITM Basanta Joshi said, “The graduate students can have their careers in the areas like event management, chef, cook, culinary arts, banks and hotels among others. We are proud of our students who are able to have careers here as well as in abroad.”


The Graduation Ceremony was chaired by Prof Dr Sudarshan Raj Tiwari, Co-Chair of the Academic Council of AITM. Ambassador of Switzerland for Nepal, Joerg Frienden, Prof Gavin R R Caldwell, Director of Operations, Human Resources and Partner Schools, Prof Dr Sriram Bhagut Mathe and Prof Dr Vincent X H Wu, Dean of Hainan College of Vocation and Technique (HCVT) congratulated all the graduates at the ceremony.
