KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav's daughter-in-law Pramila Kumari has been elected as the provincial assembly member under the proportional representation category.
Maoist leaders have expressed grievances over the election of Pramila Kumari Yadav as the member to the Provincial Assembly.
“Yadav has been picked from the central committee of the CPN (Maoist Center) as Saptari District Committee did not recommend her. She was not so active in local politics,” former Maoist lawmaker Umesh Yadav told Republica Onnlie, adding, “We don’t know how she has been elected member to the Provincial Assembly.”

Maoist party had fielded altogether five candidates for the Provincial Assembly and Pramila’s name was placed in the fourth.
CPN (Maoist Center) had fielded Pramila as a provincial assembly candidate of the party under the PR category. Of the total 35 seats bagged by the Maoist party, Pramila has been elected lawmaker from Madhesi quota.
Pramila is the wife of Ashok, son of the election chief. He said that she has long been involved in politics.
Some commissioners within the EC, however, claimed that the candidature of Yadav's daughter-in-law could influence election decisions. Yadav was appointed election chief from the Maoist quota.
Yadav had been appointed the election chief under Maoist quota. CEC Yadav has faced a series of criticism while conducting the elections, raising questions over the free and fair manner of elections.
