KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Chief whip of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Dev Gurung has asserted that Shivamaya Tumbahangphe can't be the candidate for speaker of House of Representatives.
Speaking at an interaction in capital, the NCP chief whip said that there is a constitutional provision that the deputy speaker cannot be nominated for the post of the speaker without resigning from his/her post.

On the occasion, he demanded the resignation of Tumbahangphe so that she can be fielded as NCP candidate for the speaker of the lower house.
Similarly, Gurung accused Tumbahangphe of creating parliament stalemate.
