China's Zhejiang Province sports delegation meets Nepal Olympic Committee

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The sports representatives from China's Zhejiang province held a courtesy meeting with officials from the Nepal Olympic Committee. 



The meeting, which took place at the committee's head office in Satdobato, involved discussions about mutual support and cooperation between the two parties. Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, recently hosted the Asian Games.

During the meeting, Committee Chairman Jeevan Ram Shrestha expressed gratitude for the successful hosting of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, emphasizing that China has consistently supported the development of Nepali sports. Cheng Yau, the head of the Chinese delegation, reciprocated the sentiment, thanking Nepal for its encouraging participation in the Asian Games.


The Hangzhou Asian Games, recognized as the world's largest sports festival based on participation, has been hailed as the most successful to date. In the 19th Asian Games, Nepal secured one silver and one bronze medal. Yau, who serves as the deputy secretary of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and the director of the Sports Bureau of Zhejiang Province, affirmed his commitment to supporting Nepal's development. He also proposed player exchanges for competition and training between the two parties, as mentioned by the Nepal Olympic Committee.


Yau further expressed readiness to promote and develop the dragon-boat game in Nepal, a popular sport in South China that China is actively promoting.
