BIRATNAGAR, Jan 9: Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has formed a four-member cabinet in Province 1. After the swearing-in of the chief minister on Monday, he appointed a minister each from the three other power-sharing parties and got the oath administered to them.

After the major power sharing party Maoist Center did not participate in the swearing-in ceremony, Tilkumar Menyangbo of CPN-UML, Bhakti Prasad Sitaula of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nirmala Limbu of JSP were appointed ministers and sworn in.
Although the chief minister has appointed ministers, he has not given any portfolio to them. Earlier, CM Karki had taken the oath of office and secrecy from Province Chief Parshuram Khapung. The main ruling party, the Maoist Center, did not attend the swearing-in ceremony, saying that the chief minister should be replaced.
