CHITWAN, Oct 13: Chitwan National Park (CNP) has started camera trapping to understand the condition of tigers in community forests in Madi area. Camera trapping has been done for ecological monitoring of tigers in the intermediate community forest area of Madi and Thori from Thursday with the support of the park project and Terai land perimeter program (Tal).
According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, information officer of the park, information about the condition of the tiger will be obtained through the method of camera trapping till the next 25th of October.

Camera taping work has been started from the Someshwar area of Madi. For this, 62 cameras have been installed at a distance of two square kilometers. The work of camera taping is going to be done by dividing it into three blocks. In one block, 17 to 21 grids will be constructed and cameras will be installed. He said that a pair of cameras will be installed in one grid. A grid will be constructed after studying the potential areas of tigers. Under the 'Tiger Ecological Monitoring of Someshwar Hill' program, the habitat and condition of tigers is to be studied.
According to him, there were three tigers in the area in 2018 and this number increased to eight in 2022. As the Someshwar range and the Valmiki Tiger Reserve area of India are located, it is going to be studied about the habitat, diet and condition of the tiger. Information officer Tiwari informed that the tapping was done with the aim of helping to create a conservation plan.
15 employees of the park and lake will be mobilized for camera taping. Other than those employees, the monitoring work is going to be done by the park administration.
