KATHMANDU, Oct 25: In view of upcoming by-polls, the Election Commission (EC) has issued the election code for stakeholders concerned from Friday.

An EC board meeting Thursday issued the election code of conduct for stakeholders – government, political parties, candidates, civil servants media and poll observers. Once the election code is issued, the government should not make any appointment, promotion and transfer of government officials in the election constituencies without consent from the election body.

As per election code media should report unbiased news reports while covering elections. Political parties are barred from engaging in personal blame game and unhealthy competition during election campaigns aimed at influencing the elections.

The government has already announced by-elections to fill 52 positions in federal, provincial and local levels including a seat of House of Representative for November 30.
