KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bimalendra Nidhi on Thursday said that the constitution amendment process will move ahead soon.

Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club he said, “The constitution will be amended in accordance with the agreement reached with United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF). We are consulting all the sides for that. The ruling parties have already started homework for amending the constitution.”

He said that the government will co-work with UDMF and discuss over constitution amendment with the main opposition party, UML.

“The erstwhile government never recognized the Madhes issue as a national issue. Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center) have accepted the Madhes issue as a national issue,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Nidhi said a constitution amendment bill will be registered at the parliament on a basis of a political understanding.
