KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Supreme Court is set to make the final constitutional audit of 80 judges that were appointed by the High Court 13 months ago.

A session with Supreme Court judges Om Prakash Mishra, Bam Kumar Shrestha, and Dambar Bahadur Shahi has been scheduled from 10:30 AM on Thursday.

On January 12, the Judicial Council had appointed 80 judges in the High Court from different sectors of the judiciary. The appointment included 37 from district judges, 27 from Nepal Bar Association and 16 from the group of law, justice, and government lawyers. However, only one government lawyer was appointed as high court justice.

The petitioners have said the JC decision to appoint 80 High Court judges violated the principle of inclusion. They have stated that the decision violated Article 38 (4), 40 (1), 42 (1) and Section 5 (1) of Judicial Council Act, 2016.
