Consumer price of milk hiked by Rs 9 per liter

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The state-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has decided to hike the consumer price of processed standard milk by Rs 9 per liter.

With the latest decision, the consumer price of processed milk per liter now will be Rs 85 per liter. Chief of Work Plan and Market Management Department of DDC, Sanjeev Kumar Jha said the new price will be effective from Friday.


The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development on Wednesday had given a nod to the DDC to hike the price of milk. The ministry had given consent to hike the price of milk on the basis of three units of fat and eight units of SNF.Earlier, a cabinet meeting had decided to increase the price of milk by Rs 6.52 per liter with a condition to ensure that actual farmers receive the hiked amount.
