“Voting procedure will complete on Monday itself”

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held on Sunday decided that the no corona-infected lawmakers would be deprived of their right to vote during Monday’s proceedings. According to Roj Nath Pandey, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat, the infected parliamentarians would be kept in a separate room where they would take rest before they enter the hall designated for the voting process. “Staffers at the secretariat will be donned in personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to ensure safety,” he added.
As many as 28 members of the lower house of parliament -- HoR-- have tested positive for the virus, according to Shreedhar Neupane, the press aide to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.
Meanwhile, the committee also decided to complete the voting processes on Monday itself. “The House will accomplish all the tasks it is supposed to do on the same day,” Neupane told Republica over the phone.
A special session of parliament has been called for Monday when PM Oli will try to win the confidence of the 275-member HoR.
