Couple held with pistol and explosives

MAKWANPUR, Feb 10: Makwanpur Police on Saturday arrested a couple in possession of weapons and explosives.  



Ram Bahadur Moktan, 32, and his wife Dilmaya Moktan, 30, of Manahari Rural Municipality of Makwanpur were arrested and made public by the police during a press conference on Saturday. Police have confiscated a pressure cooker bomb, two socket bombs, a pistol, four bullets, half kg explosives and six detonators from the couple.

The couple has also been accused of shooting and injuring one in the forest guards of Sano Bhabar of Manahari Rural Municipality-9 on Wednesday. DSP Bikash Raj Khanal of the District Police Office (DPO) informed that a motorcycle was found nearby the incident spot which was used by the couple. The couple had hidden the explosives and weapons in different places. 


As per the statement of the accused, they had shot at Sharan Gole, 37, of Hetauda-19 when he and his friend Raj Kumar Tamang tried to stop their motorcycle them trying to escape from the Sano Bhabar forest. They had also attacked Tamang with a stone on the head.


 Gole, who was shot in the chest, was admitted to a medical college in Bharatpur. He was discharged a day later. Police are conducting further investigation to find out more about the case.
