Covid-19: Police begin investigation on misleading audio

KATHMANDU, March 21: Cybercrime Bureau of Nepal Police has initiated investigation on a misleading audio clip which has gone viral on social networking sites of late.

KATHMANDU, March 21: Cybercrime Bureau of Nepal Police has initiated investigation on a misleading audio clip which has gone viral on social networking sites of late.



Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Shailesh Chhetri, informed that investigation on the fake audio mentioning coronavirus case at Norvic Hospital has begun and the person on making public the audio would be brought to action soon.

The 1-minute audio has said Norvic Hospital had coronavirus case and it was informed by the employee there. The audio viral on social networking sites has panicked people and received criticism too.


Nepal Police has appealed to all not to run after rumour but follow the authentic information the government shares from time to time. The government has already announced that anyone involved in spreading rumour and misleading information would face stringent action.


Meanwhile, the Norvic Hospital issued a press release and mentioned that there was no case of coronavirus. The hospital also demanded action on those spreading false information.
