KATHMANDU, March 27: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced to withdraw the support of his party to Prime Minister K P Oli within the next one or two days.
Addressing a function organized by the Civil Society Movement in Kathmandu on Saturday, Chairman Dahal also revealed that they had earlier decided to defer withdrawing support to the government at the request of political parties that staged demonstrations against the move of Prime Minister K P Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR). “But I cannot wait for many days both on political and moral grounds. Let the politics take its own course,” he said.

The announcement of Chairman Dahal comes amid reports that Prime Minister Oli is planning to prorogue the ongoing parliament session. The government ministers have said that they are planning to prorogue the ongoing parliament session as they need to summon a budget session again after mid-April.
Dahal, however, clarified that his party decided to defer withdrawing support to the government hoping that there would be a minimum political consensus among the political parties that took to the street against the prime minister’s unconstitutional move to dissolve the parliament and that they would be able to simultaneously withdraw the support to the government and register vote of a no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
Chairman Dahal’s remarks come at a time when the Mahanta Thakur-led faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party has already expressed its agreement in principle to support the Oli-led government. The erstwhile UML has a total 121 lawmakers in the 275-member parliament. Even if a few lawmakers close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal decide not to extend support, Oli could manage to survive his government if he could solicit the support of a faction within the Janata Samajbadi Party.
