KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa has expressed concern over the rapid spread of Christianity in Nepal.
Presenting a political report at the party's ongoing central working committee meeting, Thapa stated that the rapid rise of Christianity is a serious threat to the country.
In his report, the chairman has criticized the government for failing to steer the country towards economic prosperity and live up to the people's expectations. "The government has become a total failure," he observed.

He said that the government has failed to adopt sound economic policy and create an enabling environment for bringing foreign investment. "The government's attempt to censor social media and mass media signals that it wants to impose totalitarianism in the country," the report said.
Chairman Thapa, in his report, also pointed out that corruption is thriving due to strong nexus among politicians, bureaucrats, businesspersons and interest groups.
"Although there are some positive steps taken in expediting the construction of physical infrastructures in this period, the government has failed to promote investment, create employment opportunities, control corruption, minimize trade deficit and develop educational and health sector," he said.
Chairman Thapa also claimed that the country is now witnessing political crisis more than ever before. "We adopted the federal democratic republic by abolishing the Monarchy 14 years ago. Since then, the country started facing serious challenges," he observed.
In his report, Thapa said that his party has opened door to unify and work together with political forces having similar political ideologies.
The two-day central working committee meeting will hold discussion on preparations for the party's upcoming general convention, secretariat report and economic report of the party and among others.
