Cycle rally for a cause

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Various stakeholders in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City have been organizing a campaign with the aim to aware authorities concerned about the increasing air pollution in the Valley and its consequences to the people living in Kathmandu since the end of December 2018.

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Various stakeholders in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City have been organizing a campaign with the aim to aware authorities concerned about the increasing air pollution in the Valley and its consequences to the people living in Kathmandu since the end of December 2018. 



The #cleanaircampaign also aims at pressurizing authorities to undertake the needed reforms. On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day today, the campaign also hosted a cycle rally. According to the press statement released by Deepak Raj Sapkota, executive director of Karuna Foundation Nepal and one of the participants of the campaign, the rally was led by cyclist Pushkar Shah and actor Rajesh Hamal.

The cycle rally began from Swayambhu and ended at Babermahal where the participants watered the plants on the greenbelt. Upon reaching Babermahal, the participants commemorated the martyrs and their contribution. Meanwhile, they also remembered late environmentalist Prahlad Yonjan who was killed on the road.


For the program, Maiti Nepal had provided ambulance, Karuna Foundation had supported transportation, KMC had provided the water for the plants. Similarly, Yogendra Giri had hosted the program.
