Leaders of Janata Samajbadi Party, including former PM Dr Baburam Bhattarai, reached the attorney’s office in the afternoon to register a complaint against the NCP lawmakers and former IGP Khanal.

"The District Attorney refused to register our complaint, saying that they need to hold consultation before doing so," Biswadeep Pandey, a leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party, told Republica Online.

Earlier on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, also refused to register a complaint saying that the case was beyond their jurisdiction, as the alleged abduction had taken place in Mahottari district.

Bhattarai has been claiming that the kidnapping of his party’s lawmaker occurred at the behest of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on April 22 to split the then Samajbadi Party.

However, Basnet, Shrestha and former IGP Khanal have denied the abduction charges, calling it a conspiracy to defame them.

It has been revealed that former IGP Khanal, NCP leaders Basnet and Shrestha had brought lawmaker Yadav from Janakpur to Kathmandu. Lawmaker Yadav was kept at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Nagpokhari.
