Daily turnover plunges to mere Rs 796.87 million while Nepse slides 6.45 points down

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday slipped 6.45 points to close at 1,961.37 points.



The secondary market opened at 1,967.83 points and hit day’s high at 1,973.82 points in the first 20 minutes. Then the market went downhill and lost around 16 points in the next half an hour.


In the next moment, the market index fluctuated and reached as low as 1,954.41 points. The market recovered around seven points in the last one hour before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also lost 0.47 points. The daily turnover, too, fell to as low as Rs 796.87 million from Rs 1.099 billion on Monday. 


Out of the 13 groups, the market values of manufacturing and processing, and trading increased in the intraday trading. Of 11 losers, life insurance lost the highest of 68.28 points.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 151 companies declined, while 71 companies posted a gain in their indices.


Himalayan Everest Insurance Limited Promoter Shares, with a turnover of Rs 75.89 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. RBB Mutual Fund 2 with shedding 10 percent in its market value was the highest loser. NMB Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha gained the largest percent of its market price.
