DDC sells over 57,000 liters of yogurt on ‘Asar 15’

KATHMANDU, June 29: The state-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) sold 57,322 liters of yogurt on Wednesday, the day marked as the ‘National Paddy Day.’



According to the DDC, the amount of yogurt sold on Wednesday was 15,313 liters more than the transaction on the same day last year. The day, also called ‘Asar 15,’ is widely celebrated by eating Dahi-Chiura (yogurt and beaten rice together).

Sanjeev Jha, general manager of DDC, said the demand has soared immensely as the consumption of Dahi-Chiura has started to increase in work places apart from the paddy fields on this particular day.


DDC sells an average of 5,000 liters of yogurt daily. On Wednesday, it sold 32,000 liters of the dairy product in the Kathmandu Valley alone .
