Details of damage due to rain in Kalikot being collected

KALIKOT, Oct 12: Most of the places in Kalikot district have experienced huge landslides this year due to heavy rains since Wednesday, leading to loss of life across the district.

KALIKOT, Oct 12: Most of the places in Kalikot district have experienced huge landslides this year due to heavy rains since Wednesday, leading to loss of life across the district.



Pradip Bohora, chairperson of ward number-9 of Narharinath Municipality, informed Republica that although the heavy rainfall since Wednesday has not caused human casualties, it has caused damages to physical structures such as houses, crops planted in fields, bridges, livestock, temple roads, drinking water and irrigation canals.

According to Bohora, four houses have been destroyed in Lalu Gadigaon of Narharinath Municipality-9 while more than 20 houses are prone to damage. Similarly, the drinking water supply to 252 households has been cut off as the drinking water pipe is broken by flood at Tallo Rani Danda. Moreover, three irrigation plants have collapsed and a suspension bridge which was under construction has also been destroyed.


Even though the rains have caused damage across the district, Narharinath Rural Municipality and Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality have started monitoring to collect the details of the amount of damage caused by the floods in their areas.


Rural  municipality Chairperson Mohan KC informed the media that landslides have damaged 50 houses in Narharniath Rural Municipality. Similarly, in Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality, floods have also caused great damage. Moreover, two houses in Ward No. 7 of the rural municipality were completely destroyed and 200 houses were partly destroyed.


According to KC, the collection of details has been started. Raskot Municipality and Mahawai Rural Municipality have also started collecting damage information.
