KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Former minister and member of the House of Representatives, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, involved in the case of the Telecommunication Traffic Monitoring and Fraud Control System (TERAMOCS) purchased by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA), has received the letter sent by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), according to high sources.
According to sources, Karki received the CIAA’s letter seeking his statement on the TERAMOCS procurement case. Sources said he provided his statements regarding the purchase of TERAMOCS a few days ago.

Even though all the employees involved in the TERAMOCS case have given statements, the statements of current minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet and former minister Karki were pending. The CIAA, which has reached the final stage of registering a graft case at the Special Court, was unable to file the case due to the delay of Minister Basnet and Karki in providing their statements.
Among them, Karki, a former Minister for Communications, has received the CIAA’s letter and replied, according to a source. “A few days ago, he had received the letter, probably given his statement as well,” said a source.
Health Minister Basnet has not yet been called by the CIAA for a statement. Karki, while leaving the meeting of the House of Representatives two days ago, responded that he was not a fugitive, as was advertised in the media.
